Parasports are sports activities played by people with physical and intellectual disabilities. The most popular parasports include wheelchair basketball, Para Athletics, Wheelchair Tennis, Sitting volleyball etc.
Parasports are held in different countries around the world to provide opportunities for persons with disabilities to participate in competition sports, to raise awareness about disabilities and to promote social inclusivity.
The 1st African ParaGames will be held in Accra from 3rd to 12th September and the Ministry of Youth & Sports unveiled on its official Twitter (X) page the official mascot for this upcoming major sports event. Take a look below at the mascot artwork below…

In all honesty, this is a total embarrassment. It clearly depicts how we truly disregard persons with disabilities in Ghana as well as have little respect towards the creative arts industry . Naturally, Ghanaian youth voiced their thoughts on this monstrosity of an artwork.

As a person of sane mind it’s only fair for me to seriously question why this was even APPROVED in the first place! Who in the Ministry of Sports gave the go ahead for this embarrassment? How much was doled out to the ‘designer’ after submitting this? Questions are on everyone’s lips and the Minister for Youth & Sports needs to come out and explain!
This mascot is an example of how bad things have gotten in Ghana not just economically but also physically and mentally !
You designed this, looked at it and you were satisfied and sent it to on to senior management who also said "wow!" And signed off on this monstrosity of a mascot. God have mercy on all of you.

The hashtag which is in no way tied to the upcoming games was shockingly asking people to rather change their dp to this rudeness.
