Meta to charge 15% VAT & other levies on Ghanaian Advertisers (Business & Personal Accounts)

Meta just emailed most Ghanaians on its recent implementation of VAT and other levies on ads placed by Ghanaian business and personal accounts.

All advertising services whether on Facebook, Whatsapp or Instagram will come with these additional tax charges effective 1st August 2023.

These charges are 2.5% NHIL, 2.5% GETFund, 1% COVID-19 Health Recovery Levy, and 15% VAT.

VAT registered businesses will have receipts showing these charges.

Ads will thus be more expensive for small online businesses who rely on Facebook, Whatsapp & Instagram ads to increase their brand reach.

What can brands do following this announcement?

For small businesses that can't afford to run ads should more than ever focus on content creation and influencer marketing strategies.
