#MyKpenkpeshie: Kennetha Says Her Natural Hair Is Like Waakye. Find Out Why!

I am Kennetha Brown aka @truecoaster on Twitter and Instagram. I have been a naturalista for the past 3 and half years.

What happened when you decided to go natural?

Kenneth: I had actually wanted to go natural longer than that but my my Mom was always on my back to braid my hair or relax it. That pressure was always on me to relax it. I finally decided to go ahead and go natural. My sister and I decided to do this at the same time actually.

If your natural hair was a Ghanaian dish what would it be?

Kenneth: I would say waakye. Waakye because it’s that kind of food that makes you feel good after eating it and its mixed with a lot of ingredients. When I mix my hair with natural conditioners like eggs, avocado oil and the various mashups it comes out really great. Its tasty.

Which natural hair products are working for your hair now?

Kenneth: Right now I have a sheabutter mix which is mixed with several natural oils in it. Its by Naya natural hair products a Ghanaian brand. It’s basic with very little chemicals. Its called Almond Shea. And it smells AMAZING!

What challenges have you been facing since you went natural?

Kennetha: Well sometimes, I want to keep a hair regime and keep it moisturized but I get a tad lazy. Haahahaha! So lets say three days after washing my hair, I get lazy and I forget to stick to my regime so it gets dry. I get tired small. But after neglecting for awhile I make sure I show it lots of LOVE! It takes patience to manage it. Its all a matter of knowing your hair and how it behaves.

Do the men compliment you more since you went natural?

Interestingly its actually a mix of both sexes. The men pass compliments and the women also think it looks fabulous and often ask about my hair regime mostly.
