Ultimate Garlic Chilli Scallion Chicken Wings Recipe!

My blog is back! It’s been almost five months since I had to suspend my blog due to the cedi depreciation which rendered subscriptions pricey and draining on me. For a minute i considered shutting down the blog but my passion for writing and documenting prevented me from taking that action. This led me to starting a fundraiser for my blog which I hope you’ll be a supporter of.

Back to this recipe which I know is a gamechanger for you as a movie night snack or premier league game day snack 😃! Do i hear a hallelujah?

Chicken wings used to be that rejected part of chicken served as a portion for children only. I remember how my Mom would either serve us this or the scrawny neck of a chicken whilst my Dad got the thigh and other more luscious parts. Today, chicken wings is a premium meat globally in restaurants and even a whole box of which costs more than frozen chicken thighs! Wonders they say, never ends.

I love the simplicity of this savoury and spicy chili mix oil. I find so much flavour dwelling in the simplest foods. The ingredients are easy to find in any local market or supermarket. Gone are the days when you’d complain of not being able to try a recipe because of lack of acess to ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 500g -1 kg of chicken wings

  • Salt

  • Garlic Powder

  • Basil flakes

  • 5 Cloves of Garlic

  • bunch of spring onion

  • 5-6 cayenne pepper (or more)

  • 1 tsp sugar

  • 1 tsp sesame oil

  • 2 tsp sesame seeds

  • 1-2 tsps light soy sauce

  • pinch of salt

Cooking Instructions:

To grill the chicken wings:

  1. Wash and pat dry the wings and season using salt, basil flakes and garlic powder very light . Brush some oil over the wings.

  2. Pre-heat grill section of the oven and grill wings for 20 minutes or use an air-fryer if you have one.

  3. Chop garlic scallions/ spring onions, cayenne pepper into pieces into a bowl.

  4. Heat about 1/2 cup of oil over fire till hot but not smoking.

  5. Pour over aromatics and watch it sizzle! Set aside for 10 minutes to absorb flavours.

  6. Once chicken is golden brown, spoon aromatic chilli mix over wings. Enjoy with gusto!
